Tayloe and Izzy were first introduced to each other in the "Chem Center" - a drop-in tutoring service offered by the chemistry department at Wake Forest University. Tayloe was pre-med and knew that if she was going to pass Organic Chemistry, she needed to have a graduate student tutor her. Impressed by his chemistry knowledge (and his charming smile), during their first interaction, Tayloe asked Izzy if he could tutor her privately. And so he tutored Tayloe during the Spring and first Summer semester of 2019.

While they spent a lot of time together (Tayloe reaaalllllllyyyyyyy struggled in O-chem), their conversations were always cordial and platonic. It wasn't until much later that fall, when they ran into each other in the chemistry building that they realized they actually had a lot of "chemistry" together. No more tutoring was needed. Izzy, no longer having an excuse to see her, eventually asked her if she'd join him for church one Sunday. Tayloe recalls her sisters and mother finding it interesting that she was going to church with "her tutor." Izzy eventually asked her out on a proper date.

Despite 2020 being a strange year, Izzy and Tayloe were able to spend time together and with each other's families. Following their graduations and after receiving concurrent offers to attend Wake Forest for law and medical school, respectively, Izzy and Tayloe realized they'd be able to spend more time together during graduate school, further solidifying their relationship plans.

Exactly halfway through law school, Izzy decided to propose to Tayloe at The Graylyn in Winston-Salem, made special to them by the fact that they'd always go on jogs around Reynolda Village and The Graylyn. Izzy will graduate in May of 2026 and Tayloe will graduate in May of 2027. They both plan on living in Winston-Salem long-term with their beloved Cavalier "Wake" (featured on your "Save the Date").

On behalf of both families, we're so excited for you to celebrate with them in September!
